Sadly, we are announcing today that we will not be holding a 2017 edition of the City of London Mile. We will, however, be returning in June 2018.As our Mile event grows, so do the costs of staging it, and it has not been possible to secure sufficient funding to keep it free-to-enter, which we remain strongly committed to doing. It has been free for all participants since year one, and we will do everything in our power to keep it that way.
Our decision to postpone the event for a year has the full support of the City of London Corporation, with whom we are already working towards 2018.
We are also working on a number of new ideas around the event (for participants and spectators alike), which will take time to develop and implement.
It has not been an easy decision, but we are confident it is the right one for the event’s health and sustainability in the long-term. The City of London Mile is held in high regard by a considerable number of people: each year we receive overwhelming amounts of positive feedback about it, from people in all walks of life. It is a completely unique event, and as such it is only right that we act in its best interests.
We will be back in 2018 and already have a provisional date in mind, which we will be announcing early next year.
